Plant Collars

To prevent bugs from chewing the roots of your plants make a bunch of plant collars to surround the stems of your seedlings. They should be pushed into thea couple of inches or the bugs will burrow under them. You can use:

• empty toilet paper or paper towel rolls.
• thin plastic pipe cut into 5 inch lengths (12 cm).
• clean tin cans without tops or bottoms.
• or paper cups with the bottoms cut off.

Simply put it around the plant stem making sure the collar is wide enough that the mature plant won’t be strangled by it. Press it down at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) into the . That’s all there is to it!
